What to Pack for a Resort Weekend (Carry-On Only)
The trick to a good resort weekend is packing light enough to skip the checked bag but well enough that you're never caught out at dinner. It's easier than it sounds. A resort wardrobe is really just a small capsule in warm colors, and three days of sun, pool and dinners needs less than you think.
Here's a men's resort wear packing list that fits a carry-on, with room to spare for what you bring back.
One set that does double duty
Start with a piece that splits. A linen set like the Sorrento Linen Travel Set is the smartest thing in the bag: wear it whole for dinner, then break it up so the blazer goes over a tee and the trousers go with a polo. One set, three or four outfits.
A cotton loungewear set like the LP Marlowe Cotton Set handles the lazy end, from morning coffee on the balcony to a relaxed lunch.
Tops: two polos, one tee
Keep it minimal. A knit polo like the Alder V-Neck Polo covers pool bar to dinner. Add a plain tee for the beach and a second polo in a different tone. That's enough to mix through three days without anyone noticing the repeats.
Bottoms: shorts for day, something cooler for night
For daytime heat, cotton or merino shorts. For evening, the Mr. Preston Silk Shorts feel cool against the skin and look dressed-up after dark without weight. Two pairs of shorts and the linen trousers cover everything.
Shoes: keep it to two
A slide and a loafer is all you need. The Tavares Cross-Strap Slides handle the pool, the beach and the walk for coffee. A leather pair like the Pemberton Leather Slip-ons takes you to every dinner. Wear the bulkier shoe on the plane to save space.
The finishing pieces
Two small things make resort outfits look intentional: a watch like the Selene Half-Moon Watch and a pair of sunglasses you actually like. Pack those and you're covered for every photo.
The healthy bit
Traveling light is good for more than your shoulders. A carry-on means no baggage carousel, no lost-luggage panic and a faster path from plane to pool, which is exactly the stress you went on holiday to avoid. Choose breathable fabrics and you'll also handle the airport, the transfer and the midday sun without arriving damp and irritable. Less to carry, less to think about, more of the trip spent actually relaxing.
